Hi Beth,
Just saw a segment on 207 with you kneading bread and realized it was Beth from Bates! Good luck with your new business. My best to you and Tim (and whoever else might be in your family at this point.)

The funny thing about this picture is that the recipe was inadvertently made without sugar so the bread is a little flat. If you make this at home, you will have a lighter bread! It's really yummy and worth the try.

Hi There Carrie,

Spelt Right's breads do not have sugar except for the cinnamon raisin bread which has a small amount of sugar mixed in the swirl. The yeast and flour are pre-fermented so help boost the yeast. Our bagels contain a tiny amount of evaporated cane juice (sugar), but the Maddie's bagels (100% whole grain) do not contain any sugar, but have a bit of organic brown rice syrup. Thanks for asking! BTW, they all taste great!

I was surprised to see no sugar in the ingredients! That was good to see, due to my boys having trouble digesting sugar, but I thought in order for yeast breads to rise, they needed some sort of sugar to activate the yeast.
